About the Lake Region Wood Bank
The Lake Region Wood Bank is a community initiative led by Loon Echo Land Trust in collaboration with local volunteers, organizations, and businesses to ensure our neighbors stay warm through the long Maine winter. Our church hosts the woodshed in our small parking lot across from the church (44 South High Street). Firewood is distributed through scheduled pickups and coordinated home deliveries.
Founded in 2024, the Lake Region Wood Bank is designed to respond quickly with firewood assistance for anyone experiencing a home heating crisis or in need of firewood for the heating season.
Supporting the Wood Bank
You can support the woodshed through donations or volunteering.
- Monetary and wood donations are greatly appreciated! Learn more about donating on the Lake Region Wood Bank website.
- There are many volunteer needs to help keep the wood bank up and running. There is a growing list of volunteer needs including staffing recipient pick up times, stacking firewood, coordinating and assisting with wood pickups from donors, raising funds for the project and more. You can sign up to volunteer on the Lake Region Wood Bank website.

We’ve set a goal to raise $6,500 to purchase a splitter, wheelbarrow, chainsaw, chainsaw safety gear set, and enough fuel and oil to keep everything running through the end of the year. Thanks to some generous donations from the community and First Church, we’ve already raised over $3,000!
