On September 15, we celebrated the life of Ruth Oberg on Friday, September 15 at 11am. At her request, the service was full of music and celebration, with limited but thoughtful speaking. Listen here to the service. Particular highlights, if you’re not up for listening to the whole thing, are at the following time markers in the recording:
Prelude of Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin) played by Dan Moore (the first 10 minutes).
Choir Anthem of “I’ll Fly Away” (Traditional) sung by our Senior Choir at 27 minutes.
Family remembrances from Pete, Karen, Hallory and Judy at 35:40.
“Hallelujah” by Mamuse sung by Judy Oberg, Laura Cleveland, and Jayne Hamaty at 1:11:30.
And if you’re listening, listen until the end when Dan plays Just a Closer Walk With Thee and Oh When the Saints in a Louisiana style as the pallbearers and family recessed with the casket in a true celebration.
