What you need to know to understand this sermon is that in the children’s time before we built two tableaus:

On the left, the first procession coming in to Jerusalem – Pilate on a war horse (for us, a “stern pink horse,” because it’s what we had…), surrounded by the Roman Army, swords and arms and all.

On the right, the second procession – Jesus riding a donkey, surrounded by the urban poor, laying coats on the ground and waving palms as they went.

These processions, and Pilate’s “stern pink horse” are what Rev. Emily is referencing throughout this sermon.
