Each Christmas season, our church distributes new clothing to Bridgton families in need through its Adopt-A-Child for Christmas program. For the past several years, we have served nearly 200 Bridgton children a ear. Parents whose children might otherwise go without items like warm coats, hats, sweaters and boots can request clothing from our program in time to give their children these gifts for Christmas. Parents can pick up a gift request form at Jeanette’s Closet located in the fellowship hall of the church during weekday morning from 9:00 – noon.
We count on our entire community to make this program work. Here’s how you can participate in this important church mission:
- You can pick up a “wish list card” at Church on November 30th or December 7th, then purchase the requested items on the card and bring them back to church, unwrapped, the week of December 7 – 14.
- You can “adopt” a child by sending a check to Firt Congregational Church ( or placing a check in the collection plate) with “Adopt-A-Child” in the memo section. We will use your donation to purchase items like socks and pajamas for children.
- If you can’t get to church to pick up a card, contact Charlotte Nolan at (207) 776-0654 or firstname.lastname@example.org and request a “wishlist card” for a local child. You’ll be given the information you’ll need to purchase clothing for the child you adopt.
- You can ask your co-workers and/or civic organiazations to help! Have them call or email Charlotte.
On behalf of all the children and families who appreciate this program, thank you!
